Despite changing times and Hong Kong's current review of its position and priorities, real estate and property continues to be a major factor in the lives of individuals, organisations and the construction professions generally in the SAR. 

There is increasing importance placed on good and effective property management. The change of emphasis in the property industry and the increasing need for effective and efficient management of the stock of buildings in Hong Kong means that property managers need to be able to exercise a wide range of skills. 

It is therefore timely that a book related to property management practice should be produced in a form that will encourage partitioners to adopt good practice. The book covers a wide range of topics from design through to management of specific types of facility. Every area that the property manager will need to deal with is covered in the one book, making it a convenient reference point for those managing real estate of all types. Dr. Raymond Tse has been very active in the area and is in a good position to produce a work that is both up to date and 'usable'. I recommend this book to all of those working in real estate and who manage property, as a tool which will assist them to be a better professional and be more effective in their management of buildings and properties in their care.
